I Had a Dream about a Wooden Band Saw… then built it

This video shows how I made the wooden band saw I designed. It’s a 12″ model, and that means the wheels are 12″ in diameter. The max resaw capacity is 7-1/4″. It uses an 80″ blade. The motor I used is a 1 hp induction motor that runs at 1725 rpm. The pulley ratio is 2:1 with the lower wheel running at twice the motor speed.
The unique feature is the quick release tensioner. With a simple flip of a lever it releases the tension on the blade.
